Handmade greeting cards can be tons of fun to make for every holiday. Handmade envelopes are a bit more of a challenge, so I put together this envelope template printable.
It’s perfect for printing at home and you can use whatever paper you like. Simply print the PDF on the back side of your paper, then cut, fold, and seal.
The finished envelope measures approximately 4.25×6 inches. It will comfortably fit a standard 4×6 greeting card. It also works with most of the printable greeting cards here on the blog:

How to use the envelope template
Supplies
- PDF envelope template (download below)
- scissors
- tape
- pen, bone folder, or another tool for making creases
- greeting card, letter, etc. to go in the envelope
Instructions
1. Print the template onto any 8.5×11-inch paper or card stock. If you want to use larger paper (such as scrapbook paper) trim it to size first.
2. Use scissors to cut out the envelope along the outside lines.
3. Use the end of a pen (with the tip retracted) or another object to mark creases along each of the 4 inside lines.
4. Fold 3 of the triangles of the card toward the center. Secure them with tape. Washi tape is a cute decorative option; you may need something more secure if you’ll be mailing your card.
5. Add your greeting card or letter to the envelope.
6. Use tape to secure the envelope closed. Address the front of the envelope with the name, address, etc. as needed.
