I love boredom busters for kids, especially when they are seasonal! We host a big Thanksgiving dinner with friends every year, so I’m always looking for fun ways to entertain the kids, like my Thanksgiving Coloring and Activity Book.
Our group of kids falls along a wide age range, so it’s important that the activities are fun and easy for everyone. The big kids love helping the little ones with activities, like these Thanksgiving tangrams.
I designed these printable paper puzzles to be perfect for fall and Thanksgiving – whether you celebrate in the US or Canada. All the pictures are of seasonal foods and natural elements. Plus, I added a heart to represent gratitude, an essential part of Thanksgiving at our house.
Use them as a quiet activity to do at the kids’ table before dinner. Give your kids a fun activity to get them excited about the changing season. Or use them for fine motor skills practice in your homeschool/public school classes.

Tangrams basics
Tangrams is a 7-piece puzzle cut from a single square. You can combine the shapes in a variety of ways to create images. The challenge cards provide an image for you to recreate with the pieces.
Or make your own tangrams in any theme using this printable tangrams template!

Thanksgiving tangrams
I created these Thanksgiving tangrams in festive fall colors.
The download includes a page with 4 sets of tangrams, plus 2 pages with challenge cards. There are 8 challenge cards in total. The designs are elements of fall.

Print all the pages on card stock. Then cut out the tangrams entirely and cut the challenge car pages into 4.
To do the challenges, choose a card. Use the pieces to recreate that image using the card as a guide.

Most of the challenge card pictures use a single set of 7 tangrams, but a few will need 2 sets. (Each of the pieces is a different color, so you can tell which puzzles need 2 sets because the picture has multiple of the same colored piece.)
