My kids love tangrams and I’ll bet that yours will too. Tangrams are a fun puzzle made from cutting a square into 7 pieces. Take the pieces and put them together to create all kinds of pictures.
This printable kids’ activity is the perfect busy entertainment over winter break and during the holidays. It encourages creative thinking and helps kids practice spatial reasoning. Plus, it’s fun!
You’ll find a ton of free printable kids’ activities all over One Mama’s Daily Drama, including coloring pages, puzzles, and LEGO fun.

How to play tangrams
There aren’t any rules, per se. The idea is to build puzzles with only the 7 pieces of a single tangram. Of course, we also like to mix several sets together to create our own fun ideas.
You can complete each of the 8 puzzles that go with these holiday tangrams using a single set of tangrams pieces.
Print all 3 pages. Cut out the tangrams pieces and cut apart each of the challenge cards. Find more detailed instructions on the printable.
Use the pieces to build each design on the challenge cards. Each child can build on their own, work together on a single card, or see who can build each one in a timed challenge.
Once your kids have done all of the challenge cards, encourage them to come up with their own creative patterns too.

Holiday tangrams
Holiday tangrams are a fun Christmas or winter kids activity. You could prepare them ahead of time for a fun family night surprise for Advent or Yule.
I designed these cards with a slightly modern take on the traditional Christmas holiday colors: red and green in several shades, along with pink and blue.
There are 8 different challenge cards with festive pictures to build. They’re all Christmas-y images, but kids could still enjoy them later in winter (or if you don’t celebrate Christmas).
