Hocus Pocus Aesthetic Stacked Bracelet Craft

Make a stacked bracelet craft in cute Halloween colors to wear the Hocus Pocus aesthetic and a festive witchy vibe.

Hocus Pocus is one of my family’s favorite Halloween movies! I grew up watching the original (which came out in 1993) and I’m so excited about Hocus Pocus 2 coming out this fall.

If you love these movies too, or if you just want to make a fun craft with a colorful witchy Halloween aesthetic, try this adorable stacked bracelet craft.

You can make just a couple of bracelets or enough to fill your arm. This is a simple craft for adults or kids, so once you have the beads and elastic, you can make a whole bunch pretty quick.

Make these for a kids’ craft at a Halloween party, swap them with your squad as friendship bracelets, or just add a little Hocus Pocus aesthetic to your October wardrobe (or hey, year-round if you like).

Hocus Pocus aesthetic

Aside from just dressing in a witch costume, there are plenty of ways to show off your love of the movies. Here’s what stands out to me.

Color scheme

The Sanderson sisters wear a pretty classic Halloween color palette: purple, orange, green, black, and a bit of red. Each sister has her own color scheme, so you can narrow it down or just mix them all together.

Whimsigoth

I came across the word Whimsigoth on Pinterest and I think it totally fits here. It’s a mix of whimsical and gothic, with a heavy dose of the 1990s. Think of Charmed, Sabrina the Teenage Witch (with Melissa Joan Hart), and Practical Magic.

Whimsigoth style includes velvet, lace, long skirts, and mixed patterns like floral and plaid. Accessorize with layered jewelry, crystals, and celestial motifs. It’s like Cottagecore, but a bit edgier.

Accessories

Of course, since I’m sharing my stacked bracelet craft, I think layered jewelry is an important part of the look. Also high on my list: striped tights, a cute cauldron purse, and a pair of Oxford-style lace-up heels.

How to make Hocus Pocus stacked bracelets

I linked to the beads I bought at Michaels and JoAnn, but you can use your favorite type of beads too.

Supplies

• scissors
• 0.5mm elastic cord
• seed beads – I mostly used size 6/0 but the red beads are size 2/0.
  • red, and orange, light green, dark green, purple, white, and black
• alphabet beads
• decorative beads – jack o’lanterns and a cauldron

Instructions

1. Measure and cut the elastic.

Measure the circumference of your arm, then add one inch. Cut a piece of elastic to the length without stretching it.

To cut a bunch of pieces quickly, measure and cut the first one; then use that piece as a guide to cut as many more as you like. Altogether I made 9 bracelets using 10 pieces of elastic.

2. String the beads in each pattern.

This craft is pretty straightforward. Use your fingers to string the beads onto the elastic, leaving about half an inch on each end for tying.

I’ve tried a variety of needles for stringing beads and for this size bead and elastic, there’s not a size that works well. I do use a larger sewing needle if I’m using jewelry thread instead of elastic.

I made a few generic Halloween bracelets by alternating black/white and black/orange. Here are the patterns for the other bracelets.

Winifred Sanderson

For Winnie’s bracelet color I alternated 2 each in green and purple.

Sarah Sanderson

For Sarah’s bracelet color I alternated 2 purple beads with one red bead.

Mary Sanderson

For Mary’s bracelet color I alternated 3 purple beads with 2 orange beads.

Amok Amok Amok

I used letter beads to spell out amok 3 times with 3 black beads in between the words. Then I added an equal number of black beads to either end to fill out the elastic.

Hocus Pocus

Letter beads spell out hocus pocus with 3 white beads between the words. Then I added white beads to either end to fill up the rest of the elastic.

Jack o’lantern

I strung one jack o’lantern bead onto the elastic, then added black beads to both ends of the elastic.

Cauldron

The cauldron bracelet is probably the most complicated, but it’s just 2 bracelets going through a single bead. First, string the cauldron onto an elastic and add an equal number of dark green beads to both ends. Tie the end. Then slide a second elastic through just the cauldron and string light green beads onto that elastic and tie the end.

3. Knot the end and tighten.

After stringing the beads onto each elastic, stretch the end and tie a basic overhand knot. Pull it tightly, as close to the end as possible. You can trim the ends or leave them.

You can make as many bracelets as you like. Make a bunch of patterns that are the same or one of each like I did. You can also change up the patterns easily with more or fewer of each color.
