April holidays

National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day

You would think this holiday was every day at my house! Celebrate National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day on April 2nd. You can make the classic sandwich, of course, or come up with a creative way to incorporate it into a new recipe! PBJ smoothie? Cookies? Ice cream?

Find a Rainbow Day

Slow down on April 3rd for National Find a Rainbow Day and spend some time outside. If you’ve recently had April showers you might be able to spot a rainbow in the sky. No clouds in sight? No problem! Look for prisms that cast a rainbow in the sun, or make your own rainbows with printable coloring pages.

National Scrabble Day

April 13th is National Scrabble Day, chosen for the birthday of creator Alfred Mosher Butts. Celebrate by playing the classic word game. If you don’t have a copy of the board game, you can play Scrabble online.

Haiku Poetry Day

Have some fun on April 17th and write haikus with your kids for Haiku Poetry Day. The haiku is (in my opinion) an easy type of poem to write. It has a pattern of 3 lines that alternate 5, 7, and 5 syllables each. Haikus don’t have to rhyme and they often tell an interesting fact or very short story.

World Penguin Day

Celebrate World Penguin Day every year on April 25th! Learn about penguins and do a craft, look for special activities at your local zoo or aquarium, or read a book about these adorable birds.

National Pretzel Day

On April 26th, enjoy one of America’s favorite salty snacks for National Pretzel Day. Make your own homemade soft pretzels from scratch or head to the mall to visit Auntie Annie’s. If you prefer the crunchy variety, try making dipped pretzels with yogurt, chocolate, or another delicious coating.

Superhero Day

Enjoy Superhero Day every year on April 28th. This fun holiday celebrates all superheroes, whether you’re a Marvel fan or a DC fan… or you want to recognize a real-life superhero you know.

Add these fun April holidays to your family calendar or download this printable coloring calendar to use every year!
