Add these shape-tracing worksheets to your library of preschool activity printables! They’re a great way to introduce your little one to common shapes they’ll be learning in elementary school.

These could also be handy for older kids to use for practicing drawing. (Even as an adult, I can’t draw a perfect circle by hand without a few tries…)

Some easy ideas for how to use these worksheets:

  • Trace the shapes with your finger, a crayon, or a pencil.
  • Color the shapes with crayons or markers; paint with watercolors.
  • Play a game of I Spy to find real-world shapes around your home.
  • Cut out the shapes along the dotted lines.
  • Practice writing the name of each shape inside it.

There are really lots of ways to use these, so get creative and incorporate them into your homeschool or summer learning fun!

Practice tracing shapes

There are 2 types of worksheets in this download.

The first includes multiple shapes in rows on a single page. There’s one for circle, square, and triangle – and one for oval, rectangle, and rhombus. Follow the lines to trace each shape.

The second type of worksheet is a bit more open-ended. Each one focuses on one of the 6 shapes and has several in different sizes to trace. There’s also some blank space, so after your child has traced them all, they can practice drawing too.
