Last year I went whole-hog and decorated every inch of my living room and kitchen with pink, black, and white Halloween decor. I pulled out all my vintage decor, crafted up a bunch of new decor, and even made some printable wall art.

I love non-traditional colors for the holidays. And I feel like pink is perfect for Halloween because it’s a little bit creepy cute. Plus, it’s a candy color!

Fall in Texas is… warm. So I can’t use a ton of real pumpkins because they go bad pretty quickly. I’ve got a mix of faux pumpkins from different places, including some that I’ve painted.

For inspiration, check out my list of 31 colorful pumpkin ideas. They work for fall and Halloween!

And if your Halloween is nice and warm too, grab these Summerween ice cream stickers.

This year I had a fun idea for making a sort-of gallery wall of fall and Halloween printable art. I can easily change out the printables as often as I want, ie. every time I find a new cute printable.

Wire grid art gallery

I have a bunch of these wire storage shelf sets. I’ve used them in the kids’ bedrooms for toy storage when they were little, for closet organizing, and as temporary modular shelving.

Supplies

  • wire grid shelves
  • white cotton yarn
  • scissors
  • binder clips

Instructions

I’ve got black, white, and blue – and chrome, which is what I grabbed for this art gallery display.

I only used three panels, but you can make it as big as you want. If I had space, I think it would be fun to set up one as a sort of room divider.

Because of the way I put my grid together, I didn’t want to use the plastic connectors that come with the shelf sets. I used white cotton yarn to tie the corners together. This makes them flexible, so I was able to adjust it once I put it up on the shelf.

Since I only had paper clipped to the grid, I wasn’t worried about the weight. If you are doing anything other than clipping a few prints to the grid, you might need to use the plastic connectors.

I laid out my chrome grid pieces, cut the yarn about 40 inches long, and wrapped it around the corner. Then I tied the ends together in a double knot. I repeated the process to connect the 3 pieces in each corner.

Then I just printed and cut out all the artwork. I used these black binder clips to hang up the printables. After I set the display up on my shelves, I spread out some of my pumpkins and a few candlesticks.

After fall is over, I may just leave this up. It would be perfect for holding Christmas printables and greeting cards. And it’s easier to leave up year-round and swap out holiday decor than a Christmas tree.
