Years ago I found this drink I loved at Sonic called the sunshine smoothie. It’s not officially on the menu anymore, but some places will still make it if you ask, so I guess you could say it’s on the secret menu. Be careful, though, because they might bring you an orange cream slush instead. (It’s good, but not the same thing.)

When I was pregnant with both of my kids, I often sent my spouse on a quest for the most random food. It was usually the worst time for a craving and this fruity drink was at the top of the list. Sonic just isn’t open at 2 a.m. everywhere.
My local restaurant can’t make this for me anymore, so I came up with my own recipe. I never worked there and I made up this recipe myself, but it tastes pretty close to the original.
If you don’t think ice cream for breakfast is ideal, you can swap the ice cream for yogurt. Try a different juice or swap the strawberries for any other fruit for a bit different flavor. This recipe is easy to customize!

Your smoothie sounds good and I’m sure is much healthier than the one at Sonic:@)
I love to make smoothies. And I use ice instead of yogurt or ice cream, which still works well and cuts calories for this older woman.
=)
Yummy! We love smoothies, but I’m like Sue and usually substitute yogurt & ice for the ice cream. That way I cut out the guilt too!
That sounds like a nice way to start the day!
oh that just sounds delicious!
Smoothies are great for lunch in the summertime when it is SOOO HOT here in Arizona!
I think my sonic addiction is vanilla rootbeers…although I rarely get them!
This sounds delicious, though. I bet my Grands would love this. Refreshing and not too sweet.
Thanks for an outrageously delicious sounding recipe for Alphabe-Thursday’s letter “O”.
I always love visiting you, clever girl.
A+
Thanks for the feedback! This is delicious, although probably not something I would have too often unless I bought some fat-free ingredients. Although now I’m wanting a vanilla rootbeer, Jenny!
