Halloween Bathroom Decor

Use simple bat shapes and decorations for Halloween bathroom decor to turn your bath into a creepy and fun bat room.

Bats make easy Halloween decor, but there’s no place they work better than in the bathroom.

When I was a kid, we had a family Halloween party and my aunt decorated the bathroom to be a “bat room.” That was several decades ago and I don’t even remember what she did, but the pun stuck in my memory.

I’ve been decorating our bathroom as a bat room for Halloween since my kids were little. They appreciate the pun too.

I’ve changed up our Halloween bathroom decorations over the years, but they mostly consisted of sticking bats to the walls. If you need an easy DIY, here’s how I make it work.

Bat room decorating

Our bat room is the downstairs half-bath. It’s small, about 5×5, so I stick bats to the walls. Last year I made a bat room sign and this year I added a cute soap dispenser.

I started with this unfinished wood sign from Joann. I don’t think they have it this year, so I don’t have a link to share. But I think any bat-themed sign will work. It just needs to have some blank space for the lettering.

I wanted to keep it simple, so I separated the layers and painted the background gray. I left the moon natural wood and painted the bats black.

Then I used a black paint pen to write “bat room” in the empty space. I just wrote it by hand, but you could use a stencil or letter stickers for neater letters.

Easy bat wall decor

The main feature of my bat decor is sticking a ton of bat shapes to all the walls. They’re lightweight, so this Loctite blue tack is perfect for the job. It comes off the walls cleanly, but if you’re worried about it damaging the paint, it’s a good idea to test it somewhere.

I use a mix of different bat sizes and shapes, including:

printable paper bats

I usually start by sticking them in some kind of pattern, like they’re flying around the room together. As I add more bats, it usually gets a bit more chaotic.
