Use this printable bat template to make fun paper Halloween bat decor – mobiles, garlands, and wall decorations.

These paper bats are such a simple thing to make, but they’re great for squeezing Halloween bat decor into any space. Download the printable template and make as many as you need to decorate the walls, ceiling, and windows.
I drew these bats by hand, so they’re a bit organic and not quite symmetrical. There are 3 different sizes on the PDF template: 5-inch, 7-inch, and 9.5-inch.
I printed mine onto white card stock, then traced them onto the scrapbook paper I wanted to use. You can print directly onto scrapbook paper, depending on the paper. Black ink might not show on very dark paper, and some scrapbook paper is slick, so the ink will smear instead of drying quickly.
How to use the printable bat template
Supplies
- printer and ink
- white card stock
- black or dark scrapbook paper
- pencil
- scissors
- needle and thread, optional
- Loctite Fun Tac, optional
Instructions
Print and cut out the template.
Print the bat template on white card stock. Cut out each of the 3 bats along the black lines with scissors.
Trace and cut out bats.
Use a pencil to trace the bats onto the back of scrapbook paper. Arrange them however you can to fit as many as possible on each piece of paper. I was able to fit 3 or 4 of each size on a 12×12-inch page.
Fold and crease the bats.
Fold each paper bat in half and then fold the wings in a symmetrical zig-zag to give them a 3D shape.
Attach string to make hanging bats.
Thread a needle with a length of black thread and poke it through the center of the bat twice, like a button, to make hanging bats.
The bat pictured on the left has both holes close together, but if you’re having trouble getting your bats to hang level, make the holes further apart like the one on the right.
Stick paper bats to the wall.
Use mounting putty to attach paper bats to a wall. Place the largest bats toward the bottom of the wall and smaller ones toward the top to create perspective.

This template is designed at 8.5×11-inches. You can print it on paper and trace onto any material, or print directly onto your craft paper of choice if your printer allows. All printables are for personal use only.
