How many bookmarks do I own? Probably a lot. But somehow I can’t always find one when I need it, so I try to keep them everywhere!
If you also like to keep bookmarks in every spare drawer and niche, you’ll adore the cute little cat bookmarks. Color them to look like your pet or any breed you can imagine.
These cute kitties will hang onto your book page with their front arms (legs?) and they’re fun for kids, teens, and adults.
By the way, did you know that a group of cats is called a clowder?
How to make a cat bookmark
Note: You can color before cutting or after.
Supplies
- printable bookmarks (download below)
- white card stock
- scissors
- crayons, colored pencils, markers, etc.
Instructions
Print and cut.
Start by printing out the PDF onto white card stock. You can use regular printer paper, but card stock will hold up better to being used as a bookmark. Cut out each cat bookmark along the dashed rectangle lines.
I didn’t try laminating these, but you could.
Color the bookmarks.
If just one person is coloring, you can color them before you cut them out. If you’re handing these out to the kids (there are 3 on a page) you may want to cut them out first.
Color the bookmarks however you like. Add stripes or a calico pattern, etc.
Trim the details.
Once you’ve colored and cut out the main shape, it’s time to trim. Cut around the ears and top of the head. Carefully cut around the front paws and up the armpits. The arms will slide over a page.
If you cut very close around the paws, you might have a few odd edges. You can trim these smooth or leave them as-is.
Once your bookmarks are decorated and cut, it’s time to get to reading! For some of our favorites, check out this list of middle grade books.
