Back when I made these printable ocean coloring pages, I got on a doodling kick. I’ve always loved this cute Japanese-style animation. It’s called kawaii, which just means cute.
I’ve heard it pronounced “kuh-why-ee” and it kind of rhymes with Hawaii.
Kawaii pictures usually add simple faces to non-human objects, although there can be kawaii animal doodles too. Kind of like adding googly eyes to random things, adding big eyes and a smile to anything makes it adorable. (Want to learn how to draw in this style? I recommend Kawaii Doodle Class by Zainab Khan!)
I doodled these sky characters – sunshine, star, and cloud – and thought they would make a fun corner bookmark project for tweens and teens.

Kawaii sky corner bookmarks
Supplies
- printable bookmark pieces (download at the bottom of this post)
- scissors
- glue stick or glue dots

Instructions
Start by downloading and printing the bookmark pieces. They fit on one 8.5×11-inch page and I recommend cardstock.
Cut out each of the character pieces, leaving a small margin around the edge. There aren’t lines for trimming; just cut close with a bit of space.

Cut out the corner pieces along only the outside lines. The inside lines will help you fold.

Bookmark assembly
Fold the two smaller triangles along the line. They should overlap and the folded shape should look square. {It’s hard to explain in words, but pretty simple to do. Check out the pictures to see what I mean.}

Put a little glue between the two triangles to glue them together. Be sure you don’t glue them down to the square section.
Add a little more glue to the top of the folded triangles and place one of the character pieces on top. Pinch it all in place with one finger inside the little pocket you’ve created.

Repeat for all the bookmarks and let them sit until they’re dry. Depending on the glue you’re using, that might be just a few minutes.

That’s it! Your kawaii corner bookmarks will fit over the corner of any book to save your page. They will peek out just a little bit.
