Easy tassel paperclip bookmarks and planner clips

Getting organized can be a chore, but at least we can make it a pretty one. These tassel paperclip bookmarks are easy to make and super cute. Use them for your favorite book, some boring paperwork, or to accessorize your planner.

I love being organized. Getting organized, not so much.

It seems like by the time I have one thing nice and neat there are three other things that have fallen back into chaos. My home office is basically a fort built from file folders and stacks of papers.

This lovely quality has also rubbed off on my daughter. Her ability to keep track of schedules, papers, and homework is a hot mess. In middle school, that makes for a tough year.

We’ve been working together on some easy DiY projects that can help her get organized and stay that way.

This week we sat down and made a few tassel paperclip bookmarks. They’re really fast to do. We made four in about half an hour. All you need is a handful of paperclips and some ribbon/yarn/string.

Easy tassel paperclip bookmarks

Supplies

• several 2-inch paperclips
• embroidery thread, ribbon, or other string
• scissors

Instructions

Each paperclip makes one bookmark.

Start by choosing some thread, etc. Try different sizes, shapes, and colors. For the tassels, I used 8 strands of embroidery thread {2 of each color} that were about 10 inches long.

Fold the thread in half and slip it through the end of the paperclip. Make sure it’s the end with one curve, not two, so that it can still clip.

Loop the whole thing around and tie a knot.

Leave the tassel long or cut it short.

These are so quick to make that you’ll want to do a whole bunch of them. They’re good bookmarks for reading, saving your homework page in a textbook, or marking the current page in your planner.
