Some of my favorite recipes could be described as “everything but the kitchen sink.” I’m bad about actually following recipes and I tend to make things like stir-fry or soup and just throw in whatever I find in the refrigerator and pantry that makes sense.
It’s hard to apply this strategy to baking. If your ratios of flour and milk and baking powder are off, you have a gross mess and not a delicious dessert. When it comes to candy bark, though, anything goes!
This Easter bark can be made with everything but the bunny. {A giant chocolate bunny just wouldn’t fit… although I suppose you could melt him for the bark…} Grab a few of your favorite Easter candies and some chocolate chips for a fun spring treat that’s easy enough that the kids can make it themselves.
How to make Easter bark
For my Easter bark, I used Easter M&Ms, Sixlets, and Whopper mini Robin Eggs. Any candy will do, although some might be better than others. Marshmallows and jellybeans are popular at my house, but would probably get hard/stale.
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 3 different kinds of Easter candy, about 1/4 cup each

Instructions
Lay a sheet of parchment paper on a large baking sheet with a lip. My chocolate didn’t run too far, but if I had filled the pan, the lip would be critical.
Put the chocolate chips and white chips in two separate microwave-safe bowls. Heat both bowls {together or one at a time, depending on how they fit in your microwave} of chocolate for 30 seconds at a time. Stir and continue heating until the chocolates are melted, but don’t overheat.

Pour both chocolates onto the baking sheet and swirl together with a butter knife or spatula.

Sprinkle the candy over the chocolate. I left most of it whole, but put some in a plastic bag and whacked it with my meat mallet to break it into smaller bits.

Let the candy sit on the counter until firm. Depending on how warm it is in your house, you might need to chill it in the refrigerator. {Chocolate melts at about 80 degrees.}
Cut the candy into large chunks. Store in a covered container on the counter or refrigerate if necessary.

Hide the Easter bark from your kids if you want to get any for yourself. This stuff is so good that it won’t last long. It makes a fun family activity and is a recipe that kids can follow on their own.
