As my kids get older, I try to come up with ways to make the holidays just as much fun as when they were little. My kids aren’t interested in hunting for eggs anymore, but they still love getting a basket of candy!
The past few years, we have loved making candy together for different holidays. I came up with this mason jar gift idea as a way to store the candy and share it with friends. It’s a lot more convenient than trying to squeeze candy into those tiny plastic eggs!
This would also make a sweet Easter gift idea for a teacher or neighbor.
Easter mason jar gift
This Easter mason jar gift is simple and easy to put together.
Supplies
- a clean empty jar with a lid (I like the wide mouth canning jars.)
- scissors
- single hole punch
- pastel tissue paper
- ribbon
- card stock
- printable Easter tag (download at the bottom of this post)
Instructions
I started by making a batch of my everything-but-the-bunny Easter bark. It’s super quick and easy to make and you can swap out the candy for just about any type.
For this mason jar gift, instead of white and milk chocolate, I used almond bark and tinted half of it pink with McCormick Color from Nature food dye. We’ve also used this for dying eggs too and the colors turn out pastel and lovely.
Print and cut out the Easter tags. Punch a hole in the black circle.
Put your homemade or store-bought candy in the container. If you’re using a canning jar, separate the lid pieces and put a few pieces of tissue paper between them. Screw the lid on carefully to avoid tearing the paper. Alternatively, cut a square of fabric.
Thread the ribbon through the tag and tie it onto the jar lid.
That’s it! You have a simple, pretty Easter mason jar gift in minutes. The Easter tag would also be cute with a box of cookies or muffins, or even a non-edible Easter gift.
You could even put together a whole basket of goodies in small jars.
