My family loves books around the holidays, and I’ll bet yours does too. If you are looking for a gift idea or just a new book for Christmas, I’ve found a good one. The Night Before Christmas: A Brick Story combines the classic tale with brick construction for the best LEGO Christmas book for kids of all ages.

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher, Sky Pony Press. All opinions are my own, except when they belong to my kids. (And like all my LEGO-related posts, this one is not sponsored by or affiliated with LEGO Group.)

My kids love books and much as I do. When I was a kid, we had a big stack of Christmas books in with the tree and decorations. Every year they came out and sat on a table in the living room. Every year, I sat and read them over and over.

We always give our kids books for birthdays and Christmas and any other gift-giving occasion. We also tend to just buy books all the time!

If you are looking for a fun way to add to your library, I love the idea of a 25 day Advent or 12 days of Christmas gift. Each day (whether you do 25 or 12) the kids get to unwrap a new book. There are tons of classic Christmas storybooks that would be perfect. This year, I added an instant favorite.

About The Night Before Christmas: A Brick Story

The Night Before Christmas: A Brick Story includes the original text of the poem by Clement C. Moore. Each page is illustrated with a photo of the scene in LEGO bricks by Amanda Brack.

The book is available in hardback with a glossy cover. The photos are high-quality and each scene is detailed.

My LEGO Christmas book review

I had a pretty good idea of what to expect from this book and I wasn’t disappointed. The poem is simple and familiar. It’s the one written by Clement C Moore in the 1800s.

The illustrations are full-page photos of the story, recreated in LEGO. Each page is very detailed, which might inspire young LEGO builders to recreate some of the scenes with their own bricks.

When our book arrived, I handed it over to the kids before I flipped through it myself. They were both instantly excited. My son sat down and read the story aloud, while his sister leaned over his shoulder.

Since then, they’ve both re-read it several times. I’ve also had to teach some new vocabulary.

“Mom, what’s a sash?”

They’ve also dug into their LEGO stash to try and build some of these scenes and ideas. I won’t spoil the details of the story, but I thought getting a sneak peek inside would be helpful.
