Sweet School Year Teacher Treat Printable Gift Tags

Say thank you to your child’s teacher and school staff at the beginning or end of the school year with these “sweet school year” treat box printables.

My kids love school. I know that not all do, but mine are always ready and excited to start a new year every August.

I know part of that enthusiasm is because they have had some really great teachers over the years. If you’d like to start the school year off with a little treat for your child’s teacher, I’ve got an easy tutorial to put together a really sweet (pun intended!) treat for them.

I made two printables for this project. One is for a teacher, but the other is pretty generic so that you can wish anyone a sweet year ahead. Make up a few for fellow parents, neighbors, the librarian, and the bus driver.

The text on the tags reads “Have a sweet school year!” and “It’s going to be a sweet school year with you as my teacher!”

There is also a matching set of two printables for the end of school too!

These tags read “Have a sweet summer!” and “It has been a sweet school year with you as my teacher!”

I used 2 different flavors out of the 4 types of Pillsbury™ Girl Scout Cookie™ Inspired Baking Mixes. (I believe these have been discontinued as of 2021):

Caramel & Coconut Cupcake Mix
Thin Mints® Brownie Mix
Thin Mints® Cupcake Mix
Caramel & Coconut Blondie Mix

Of course, these printable gift tags will work with any homemade or store-bought treats. You can even attach them to a gift card.

How to make treat boxes

Supplies

homemade or store-bought baked goods
parchment paper*
scissors
paper treat boxes (mine were 6.5 inches square by 3 inches tall)
ribbon (I used pink sheer and silver metallic)
scotch tape, optional but handy
printable sweet school year gift tags (Download all 4 at the bottom of this post)

*If you’re purchasing store-bought or bakery treats, you can just leave them in the original packaging.

Instructions

Start by making the Girl Scout® Thin Mints® Brownie Mix and Girl Scout® Caramel & Coconut Blondie Mix according to the package directions. These are pretty quick to make and I like to use 9-inch round cake pans. Be sure to grease the pans properly so that they come out easily.

When the baked goods have cooled, cut them into portions. I cut mine into wedges.

To put together each sweet school year treat box, start by cutting out the card that you’re going to use and measure enough ribbon to go around your box. I just measured mine by holding the ribbon where I wanted it to go and then cutting it with plenty of extra on the end for tying. They came out to about 36 inches long.

Next, put together the treat box and cut parchment paper to fit inside the bottom. I measured mine to fit under the bottom of the box with about a 2-inch border.

Pop the parchment paper into the box and add the baked treats. I put two of each and stacked them.

Close the box and tie on the ribbon.

I used two different ribbons for contrast, layering the skinny one over the wide one. I centered the two ribbons on one corner and then taped them in place so that they wouldn’t move while I tied the other end. You don’t have to tape it, but it’s pretty handy and the tape comes right off after you’ve got the bow tied.

Slip the card under one corner of ribbon and you’re done.

I love how this turned out. Simple and gorgeous! My kids said they looked “fancy” and they really took very little time and effort to put together.
