Did you know that April 28 is National Superhero Day? I’m not sure where the holiday came from, but it also happens to be opening weekend for Avengers: Infinity Wars part one.

I always like to arrive way early for movies so we can get our snacks and get a good seat. We like to go to the weekend matinee at Movie Tavern because it’s inexpensive and they usually let you grab seats about half an hour before the movie.

If you get there too early, the kids can get bored before the previews have even started. I made this superhero dominoes game to keep the kids entertained during moments when I know they’ll get bored.

Download and print this dominoes set and you’ve got an easy game to play in the theater before the lights go off.

Superhero dominoes

I made a set of 28 dominoes. Instead of numbers, the cards feature superhero pictures. There are 6 kids, each sporting a different colored super suit. That means little ones who can’t read yet can enjoy this game as much as big kids!

Game assembly

The pages will fit 8.5×11-inch paper and I used basic card stock. Laminate the individual dominoes if you choose.

Start by printing both pages, then cut out each rectangle. I recommend using a paper trimmer to make quick straight lines, but you can use scissors too.

How to play

I included the instructions on the printable for reference.

  • Shuffle the cards and turn them face down on a table (or flat surface).
  • Each player draws 7 cards to begin.
  • The youngest player goes first. Place a card face up in the middle of the table.
  • Going clockwise around the table, each player takes a turn. If you have a card in your hand that matches one of the superheroes, place it on the table next to the matching superhero. If you don’t have a matching card, draw 1.
  • The first person with no cards in their hand wins.

Superhero dominoes is a fun game to keep kids entertained during downtime. They make a fun homeschool or rainy day activity. Feel free to print multiple copies for your classroom, school club, scout troop, or any other small group.
