There are tons of options for playmats and tables, but most of them are just too big. A small printable paper version makes for miniature fun. This printable play mat is perfect for LEGO, farm animals, cars, blocks, dinosaurs, and any other kind of playset.
My kids have tons of playsets that require space. They love to spread out. Cleaning up, not so much.
I’d love to have room for one of those big LEGO activity tables. They take up so much space, though. We had a train table for a while and it pretty much filled my son’s bedroom (and became the place where everything was piled!).
If you’ve got one of those big tables on your child’s wish list, I’ve got a space-saving solution for you.
Play mat ideas
This printable play mat is small and stores easily. And when it wears out, you can just print another one. Store your LEGO sets or other playsets in a plastic shoebox. Everything cleans up easy and stores neatly.
It could even travel pretty easily for road trip entertainment. Pick up one of those 18-inch square scrapbook storage boxes on sale at your favorite craft store. Put the printed play mat and all the accessories inside.
Your child’s imagination is the limit, but here are a few ways you might use this printable besides with LEGO or DUPLO:
- farm animals
- Little People
- dinosaurs
- superhero action figures
- Lincoln Logs
- Hotwheels cars
- Lil’ Woodzeez/Calico Critters
- playdough (although I recommend you laminate the play mat first)
