The last time I bought a new phone, I decided to go with a clear phone case so I could show off the pretty rose gold color.
I’m the type of person who likes to change things up a lot, though. I rearrange my furniture, grow out my haircut, and try new fashion styles all the time.
If you can relate, you’re going to love this cute Halloween phone case idea. All you need is a clear phone case that fits your model and some paper.
I bought this paper pack a few years ago. Here are some of my favorite sources for cute Halloween paper patterns:
- K&Company Tim Coffety Halloween Fall Designer Paper Pad (includes candy corn!)
- Halloween Happy Haunting Paper Pad by Recollections (cute ghosts)
- DCWV Paper Stack Halloween Party (lots of pink Halloween)
I made this for Halloween, but you can swap out the paper designs for any holiday or theme.
How to make a cute phone case
To avoid confusion: My Halloween paper is double-sided. The pumpkins are on the back of the candy corn paper. So while the candy corn paper is what you see in the tutorial, the pumpkin paper is what’s facing down.
Supplies
- clear phone case – I have the iPhone XS, but Flex Gear makes them for most models.
- Halloween paper
- pencil
- scissors
Instructions
1. Trace the phone case.
Choose the scrapbook paper design you want to use and lay it on the table with the design you’re using facing down. Trace around the outside of the case and the camera hole(s).
2. Cut out the paper design.
Use scissors to cut out the paper design along the lines. There are 2 ways to cut the camera holes. You can bend the paper and make a small snip, then start there to cut out. Or you can use an X-acto knife (or similar).
3. Check the fit.
After you’ve cut out the design, pop it into the phone case to check the fit. Depending on how curved the case is, you may need to trim a bit extra from the edges. Trim just a bit at a time until you’re happy with it.
4. Clean your phone and case.
Wipe down the phone case to remove any pencil marks or fingerprints. Make sure your phone and the case are clean before putting them together. This is a good idea even if you aren’t making a cute Halloween phone case. Most cases are easy to open so you can clean your phone regularly.
5. Put it all together.
Finally, pop the paper into the case and then the phone. That’s it! You can change it out as often as you like.
This Halloween is such an easy DIY project. You could swap it out with any scrapbook paper or craft paper for other holidays. Here are few more fun ideas:
- Add stickers to the paper
- Draw your own artwork
- Print and cut out a photo
