My family loves counting down the days until Halloween. My kids start planning their costumes every year as soon as school starts in the fall. And I usually start brainstorming our front porch Halloween decor theme then too.

Sometimes it’s hard to not get too carried away before October rolls around, so I try to save some fun things to do closer to Halloween – like buying candy and watching movies.

If you’re looking for a fun activity to do each day in October, you’ll love this printable Halloween countdown calendar. It was drawn by my oldest kid and includes a haunted house filled with silly hidden monsters.

Coloring supplies

You’ll need a home printer with paper and ink to print these coloring pages. Then you can color them however you like! Here are my family’s favorite art supplies:

  • Crayola colored pencils
  • Crayola crayons
  • Crayola markers
  • Crayola Colors of the World bundle
  • Yasutomo watercolor paints
  • Arteza watercolor pencils
  • Arteza brush pens

Or use these to make mixed media art by adding glitter glue, cut paper, or whatever other art supplies you and your kids enjoy.

This Halloween calendar is a haunted house with 31 windows and doors. They’re numbered from 1 to 31, so you can color one each day.

Printing instructions

After you download the files below, you’ll see that there are 2 of them. The first is a regular 8.5×11-inch page that you can print at home.

The other file is 18×24-inches. It’s big! You’ll need a commercial printer to print it, but it would be so cool to hang it up on the wall and color it each day. Take the file to your local copy shop or library for printing. (Estimated cost at Staples or Office Depot is around $15.)

Hang the printed page on a flat wall, stick it to the fridge, or display it somewhere that you’ll see it every day in October.

Halloween countdown activities

Having a 5 minute daily coloring time would be a cute activity at home or school. You could also have kids color while doing something else, like:

  • watching a Halloween movie/cartoon
  • eating an after-school snack
  • talking about their day
  • alongside other Halloween games – like my Halloween tangrams
  • with other coloring sheets – like my Halloween cat coloring pages

For some reason, the “form” to download this is not showing up for me. I’ve tried different browsers, turning off content blockers, and looked in the shop. Could be because I’m on mobile, but this is something the kids that I work with would love to do!

Hi Matthew! Thanks for bringing it to my attention! There was a typo in my HTML code. It should be working correctly now.
