Grab this printable gift tag and fill a Christmas cookie tin for a fun semi-homemade gift idea that’s thoughtful and inexpensive.

This craft was originally shared in 2017 as part of my Christmas gift ideas with printables and has been updated for clarity.

When I was a kid, my mom always made a gift basket full of homemade goodies for the mail carrier, bus driver, and several other people.

Even if you fill a container with store-bought goodies, it’s a thoughtful and inexpensive way to say thanks to all the service people you see regularly.

This printable cookie tin gift tag is 4-inches across, so it’s perfect for round metal tins that size or larger. And you could totally use these on a square box or wrapped gift too.

This digital download includes 8 different label designs – 4 with text and 4 without. They all have festive patterns in red, white, lime green, and blue.

The text ones say:

  • Wishing you merry moments
  • Have a holly jolly Christmas
  • It’s the most wonderful time of the year
  • Joyful greeting to you

What to put in a cookie tin

I’m calling this a cookie tin, but you can see that I filled it with candy. Here are a few more fun ideas for something small that makes a great assembled gift!

  • homemade or store-bought cookies
  • homemade or store-bought candy
  • tiny specialty jam, honey, crackers
  • fruit leather or jerky
  • marshmallows and cocoa mix
  • nuts, pretzels, or Chex mix

Supplies

  • metal cookie tins – The ones I used were discontinued. Look for small ones at your local dollar store and grocery stores.
  • Hershey’s miniatures or your Christmas treat of choice
  • sticker paper
  • scissors
  • printable 4-inch round labels (download below)

Instructions

1. Print and cut out the labels.

I recommend printing these on sticker paper so that they are shiny, but matte label paper would work too. Cut out the labels around each circle with a pair of scissors.

2. Peel and stick to the container.

Following the directions on the label paper, remove the sticker and place it in the center of the tin. Don’t be too much of a perfectionist – it probably won’t be perfectly centered!

3. Fill with treats.

Add your treats to the tin and close the lid. Then you’re ready to gift! Easy peasy!
