Fall is my favorite season. There’s something about the fresh autumn produce that just screams comfort food. This fall weekly meal plan includes breakfast, lunch, snacks and supper ideas to make the most of the harvest season.
This is the third season in my weekly meal planning series. If you’re trying to spend less on groceries and eat a bit healthier, seasonal produce is the easiest way to do that. You can take advantage of the farmers market or the sales at your regular grocery store.
Fall might be pumpkin spice season, but there is so much more than that to enjoy. {Although there is definitely pumpkin in my meal plan!} Fall produce is usually heartier and more filling than warm seasons. If you like in a warmer climate like I do, the summer weather may hang around well into fall. I like to check the weather when planning my meals for the week ahead. This gives me time to plan warm comfort foods if the weather is chilly or go back to my summer recipes if we’re hitting high temps again.

1. chicken pot pie
Chicken pot pie is a great family meal because you can change up the vegetables to include whatever you have on hand – and your whole family will eat. For fall, a combination of potatoes, carrots, and broccoli is delicious. Try my easy one-pot version.
2. cranberry apple pork chops
I found this slow cooker pork chop recipe last year and love how quick it is to start in the slow cooker in the morning. It’s made with onions, pork chops, fresh/frozen cranberries, and apples.
Serve it with your favorite veggie and some sausage cornbread stuffing for a filling meal.
3. chicken skillet with sweet potatoes
If you read this blog post, Erin rediscovered her own recipe when a reader told her how much she enjoyed it. Since I found her recipe a year or so ago, I’ve probably made the recipe more than a dozen times. It really is that good! I usually swap the brussels sprouts for broccoli, but I’ve been meaning to try it with cabbage instead.
4. stuffed acorn squash
This stuffed acorn squash looks like it should be a complicated Thanksgiving side dish. Honestly, I could eat the apple cranberry sausage stuffing by itself! It has a lot of steps, so I recommend it when you have an hour or so for cooking, but the recipe is easy.
5. slow cooker chili
Chili is a fall staple. Once it actually gets cold in Texas, I make it almost weekly. My recipe is simple and everything can be tossed in a pot on the stove or your slow cooker, depending on how much attention you want to give it.
6. chicken green bean casserole
Is it really fall if you haven’t made a casserole for dinner? This chicken and green bean casserole is deliciously filling. It’s also quick to make with instant stuffing mix.
7. harvest salad with chicken
I created this harvest salad recipe to combine my favorite fall flavors – cranberries and apples and celery – in a meal that won’t heat up the kitchen when fall just isn’t that cold.
