Sometimes you need a snack that’s just plain fun. The look on my kids’ faces when they saw me making this “unicorn food” rainbow snack mix said it all. They were so excited. Kids love unicorns, bright colors, and deliciously cheesy Goldfish® crackers.
To be honest, who doesn’t love unicorns? They’re magical and always happy.
I like to think that rainbows and unicorns go together. I don’t know if unicorns eat rainbows, but maybe that’s how they get their hair so colorful…
This snack mix is definitely a happy and colorful treat. It’s got Goldfish Colors crackers, which are naturally colored. I added some Mix Xtra Cheese and Pretzel crackers just for good measure {and good flavor!}. Then there are the fluffy white marshmallow and yogurt raisin clouds.
For a little extra color and sweetness, I added some candy-coated chocolates.

I found all the ingredients for this recipe at my local Walmart. Look for the bulk boxes of Goldfish crackers on the bottom shelf in the snack aisle. The bulk flavors – Cheddar, Made with Whole Grain Cheddar, Colors, Xtra Cheddar, and Mix {cheddar and pretzel} – are currently on rollback of $5.98, so now is a great time to stock up.
In my house, these snacks don’t stick around for long!
You can also take advantage of an in-store deal to save $1.00 on any ONE (1) Bolthouse Farms® 10 oz. Baby Carrots or Bolthouse Farms® 11 oz. juice when you buy any ONE (1) Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® crackers 30 oz. or larger. No coupon needed – see your local Walmart.
My kids were super excited when I told them they got to taste-test some unicorn food. I think this is a pretty simple after school snack. {Okay, and I was excited to snack on it too…} You could also pair the “unicorn food” rainbow snack mix with a cup of fresh fruit in rainbow colors and you’ve got a smart, fun, and kid-friendly snack.
