I was sent a complimentary Mimmo Caddy from Mollie Ollie to test out. The caddy is really versatile. It was designed to be used as a diaper bag, but also works as:
- car organizer
- road trip tote
- portable homework station
- teacher caddy
- knitting/crochet supplies
- picnic basket
- cleaning supplies
- library books
Of course, being a planner nerd, I had to fill it up with my planner supplies. I’ve collected a ton over the years – pens, stickers, etc. and previously shared my favorite planner supplies.
If you’re new to planning or are starting to get overwhelmed with sticker books, pens, and washi tape, I’m sharing my tips on storing planner accessories.
How to store planner accessories
1. Gather everything.
Planner accessory storage starts with knowing what you’ve got. Collect all of your planner supplies and make a big pile. It always looks like less until you start putting everything on your desk!
2. Sort into piles.
Next, so everything into piles by category. I divided mine into loose paper, stickers, pens and markers, washi tape, and watercolor supplies.
3. Evaluate how much space you need.
With everything sorted, you can decide where to put everything based on how much space you need. I always need more space for my sticker books than I think!
4. Choose a container with room to grow.
While a drawer or shoebox will work for a small space, if you love collecting planner supplies it will get full fast!
That’s exactly what I did and I ended up with 2 drawers and several cups full of pens. I still needed something that didn’t take up a ton of space (ie. no big cabinet or rolling cart).
Mollie Ollie sent me their Mimmo Caddy to test out and it was exactly what I needed for planner storage. (Thanks, it has pockets!)
My personal thoughts
- Solid, high-quality felt (polyester) that’s soft and looks gorgeous.
- It stays in shape no matter how full it is and won’t tip over when you pull out the big sticker books.
- Big sections are the perfect size and are adjustable via velcro dividers. (There’s also a zipper pocket with elastic for small things like loose stickers.)
- The inside is easily wipeable, but I’d avoid getting anything on the outside.
- It’s just the right size at 14.5×9.5-inches and it holds a lot – up to 50 pounds!
5. Put your supplies in the container.
With the caddy, I put the pens in outside pockets. About a dozen fit in each one. I used the biggest space for my planner and watercolor supplies. The smaller spaces were perfect for sticker books and washi tape. (Hey, now I have room for more.)
I stuck all the loose stickers in the small inside pocket and the papers in the back pocket.
Now that I’ve got all my planner storage taken care of, I’ve got room to put just the things I need for work on my desk. And I can still keep my storage caddy nearby, move it to the sofa, or take it with me anywhere.
