When you need a simple dessert, dressing up a boxed mix is the perfect solution. This peanut butter cheesecake brownie recipe starts with a box, but the frosting takes it to the next level. Plus with a little cake pan trick and some clever cutting, wedges make the perfect portion. No stuck brownies!
This peanut butter cheesecake brownie recipe is amazing. I whipped it up on one of those days where I was feeling blah and it was just what I needed. You can start with a box mix or your favorite homemade brownie recipe.

This peanut butter cheesecake brownie recipe is really rich and indulgent. Sometimes I just need a little something sweet. Maybe I’m having a stressful day or feeling a bit under the weather. Maybe both at the same time.
This recipe makes a whole pan, so you can just enjoy one (or two) every day for a week. Or share, if you’re feeling generous.
I used Immaculate Baking Mix brownies, which I picked up at Sprouts for $6. You can also buy it in bulk on Amazon for a bit of a discount. Any brand will work, of course, so use your favorite. For some reason, I can’t get a from-scratch recipe to turn out as good as any box.

Peanut butter cheesecake brownies
Ingredients
- 1 box brownie mix or your favorite recipe
- ingredients to complete the box mix
- 4 ounces cream cheese
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Mix up the brownie batter.
Start by making the brownie mix according to the package or your recipe. I used a 9-inch round cake pan and lined it with aluminum foil so the brownies would come right out when they were done.

2. Cool and remove the brownies.
Set the brownies aside to cool and then peel off the foil. They came right out of the pan and the foil peeled right off.

3. Mix the frosting.
Meanwhile, in a stand mixer, whip the cream cheese. Add the peanut butter and continue mixing until it is evenly combined and smooth. Add the powdered sugar and mix again. The frosting will be thick.

4. Decorate the brownies.
Spread the frosting mixture over the brownies, smoothing it evenly across the top.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the frosting.

Slicing and serving
The brownies can be refrigerated until ready to serve. Store them in a covered container in the refrigerator. I used a large kitchen knife to cut the circle into 12 wedges.
