When the weather outside it hot and you’re trying to keep everyone hydrated, there’s only so much water you can drink. This honey blueberry lemonade is a delicious alternative that’s easy to mix up.

This recipe also makes a fun summer science activity for kids. Before we mixed up our pitcher, I asked my kids what color they thought the lemonade would be. They know that blue and yellow makes green and it was fun to watch the lemonade turn pink!
How to make honey blueberry lemonade
Ingredients
- 0.5 cup honey
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 cups lemon juice
- 3.5 cups water
- ice (optional)
- extra frozen blueberries for garnish
Instructions
1. Make a simple syrup.
Combine the half cup honey, 2 cups water, and 1 cup blueberries in a small saucepan. Stir the mixture over low heat until the honey has dissolved and incorporated into the water, about 2 or 3 minutes.

2. Add syrup to lemon juice.
Combine the simple syrup mixture and lemon juice in a pitcher.

3. Add water.
Add the additional 3.5 cups water to the lemon juice mixture and stir to combine. Chill the lemonade until ready to serve.

Serve this lemonade over ice if you like. Add more blueberries for a garnish. We like using frozen blueberries because they keep the drink cold and make a fun pop of flavor.
This recipe is really simple and the result is a drink that’s a bit tart. If you prefer a sweeter lemonade, you can add more honey – up to twice as much. You could also substitute your favorite sugar or sweetener in place of the honey.
