Eggnog is a special holiday treat at my house. It’s only found in stores from November to early January, so you have to enjoy it while it lasts. This no-bake holiday eggnog pie is the perfect dessert for any holiday gathering or even just a weeknight treat.
I love any dessert that looks like it took hours to make, but really only took minutes. This eggnog pie definitely fits that rule because you can do all the work in about five.
The hard part is waiting. It has to set up in the refrigerator and while an hour might be enough, this dessert is better when made the day before (or at least several hours).
My son, who spends about 10 months of the year waiting for eggnog to appear at the grocery store, was instantly a fan. This pie is creamy and smooth and full of flavor. Even if you’re not a big fan of the thick drink, you might find that this sweet treat has the perfect custard texture.
Whip this up for your next party and impress everyone. My trick to getting perfect slices is to use a sharp paring knife to cut.
Eggnog pie tips and variations
This dessert is as easy as mixing up a box of instant pudding. That leaves plenty of time for creative variations if you’d like to try them. Here are a few fun ideas to get you started.
- Instead of a graham cracker crust, try a different cookie like Oreo.
- Swap your plain eggnog for flavored eggnog.
- Need to make it dairy-free? You can’t use a milk alternative (like soy, almond, or coconut milk) with instant pudding. You can use one with cook and serve pudding. Of course, that will require more prep time.
- Use mini graham cracker pie crusts.
How to make eggnog pie
Ingredients
- 1 9-inch graham cracker crust
- 1 3.4-ounce box instant vanilla pudding
- 1-3/4 cups eggnog
- whipped cream, optional
Instructions
In a small bowl or large measuring cup, combine the vanilla pudding mix and eggnog. Beat with a whisk by hand until smooth, about 2 minutes.
Pour the pudding into the pie crust. Refrigerate the pie until set, at least one hour but up to 8 hours or overnight is better.
Slice into 8 pieces and top each slice with a dollop of whipped cream.
Note: While I usually cut my pies into eight slices and that’s what I did here too – but it is pretty rich, so you could cut it into 12-16 skinnier slices instead to serve a bigger group.
