These sheet pan nachos are a favorite family recipe at my house. They’re perfect for Friday nights when the family wants to watch a movie together. It’s pretty great for feeding a crowd, if you are the sports-watching group type.
The best thing about this loaded oven nacho recipe is that you can personalize it. Feel free to make it meatless and add more beans. Swap out veggies or use a different cheese.
Measurements below are meant as a guide, and you can easily double this recipe to fill 2 sheet pans.

How to make nachos in the oven
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 recipe taco seasoning (or sub your favorite packaged mix)
- 1 bag tortilla chips
- 0.5 cup onion
- 0.5 cup bell pepper
- 1 jalapeño
- 1 15-ounce can beans (black or pinto)
- 8 ounces monterey jack cheese
- salsa, sour cream, guacamole
Instructions
1. Make the taco meat.
In a skillet on the stove top, brown the ground beef. Drain off excess grease and return the beef to the pan. Add the taco seasoning and 1/4 cup water. Stir and simmer over medium heat until the moisture is absorbed. Turn off the heat and set the taco meat aside.

2. Prep the vegetables, beans, and cheese.
Dice the onion and bell peppers into small pieces. Slice the jalapeño into thin rings. Drain and rinse the beans. Grate the cheese if necessary.

3. Assemble the nachos on the sheet pan.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. On a large baking sheet (I use this 11×15-inch baking sheet) layer the nachos. First, add a layer of tortilla chips to cover the bottom of the baking sheet. You won’t need the whole bag.
Add the seasoned beef on top of the chips. Add the beans, onion, and bell pepper on top of that. Sprinkle some of the cheese evenly over the top. Spread the jalapeño rings across the top and add the rest of the cheese.

4. Bake the nachos in the oven.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is thoroughly melted.

Serve the oven nachos family style by placing the sheet pan on a hot pad on the counter or in the center of the dining table. Set out small plates so each person can serve themselves and add the toppings they want.
We love these nachos loaded with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream. The jalapeño adds a bit of a kick, but overall these aren’t very spicy.

These nachos are best served hot right away. They don’t store well as leftovers and the chips will become soggy in the refrigerator. If you want to prep ahead of time for a party, you can cook the taco meat and prep the vegetables, then assemble and bake right before you’re ready to eat.
Sheet pan nachos are great for a party, a lazy weekend, or even a weeknight family dinner!
