Once the weather starts getting chilly, a basic peanut butter and jelly sandwich in your child’s lunch box gets pretty bland. Here are a dozen simple winter lunch ideas that will keep your kids warm and filled at school.

These ideas are easy to make ahead on the weekend for reheating during the week. They also make great weeknight meals with leftovers for the next day. There are a couple of ways to keep hot food hot at school.
- soup, pasta, chili, or anything somewhat liquid – thermos
- tortillas or anything that can stay completely hot – wrap in foil
- sandwiches on bread or anything that could get soggy – put the hot filling in a thermos and keep the bread separate for assembly at lunch time
