There’s something so warm and friendly about a sunflower. Whether you decorate with real ones or use faux flowers for crafting, they brighten up a room.

Sunflowers are pretty popular for summer decor, but I think they look great for fall decorating too. They have farmhouse decor vibes, but I think they go great with modern styles too.

I’ve collected my favorite sunflower crafts for adults below. If you’re looking for sunflower kids’ crafts, visit my other block Backyard Summer Camp.

Sunflower decor and crafts

1. Easy Neutral Fall Wreath | Elle Marie Home

This gorgeous fall wreath is made with white sunflowers, rather than yellow ones. It’s perfect for farmhouse style decor or anyone who’s looking for something a bit less colorful.

2. Farmhouse Milk Can Vase | Bullock’s Buzz

Sunflowers and farmhouse decor go hand in hand. Paint a milk can and add a few embellishments to turn it into a DIY milk can vase for a bouquet of silk or burlap sunflowers.

3. Ribbon Sunflower Bow | Tikkido

Follow this ribbon craft tutorial and make a cute little sunflower that can be used as a bow on a gift. It would also be easy to add the flower to a headband, a wreath, or any other craft as an embellishment.

4. Fall Watercolor Printables | Our Crafty Mom

Swap out some of the artwork in your gallery wall or display these printables on a shelf or table. These fall watercolor printables feature sunflowers and pumpkins.

5. Sunflower Painted Rocks | Sustain My Craft Habit

Painted rocks are super trendy and this rock painting tutorial is easy to follow. It would be fun to make a bunch of these for a spot in your garden. Indoors, these make great weights for papers, napkins, or as decor.

6. Sunflower Clothespin Wreath | Decor Home Ideas

This quirky and colorful wreath is made with clothespins dyed and painted in different colors. They’re clipped around a wire wreath, so the whole thing is pretty quick to make.

7. Paper Sunflower Cupcake Toppers | Ivy Lillies

These festive cupcakes toppers are perfect for a themed party and would be great on the kids’ table at Thanksgiving. If you have a Cricut, these are quick to make, but you can cut the shapes from paper by hand too. Cupcake toppers can be used as party picks for other foods, or even stuck in a centerpiece.

8. Sunflower Hand-Painted Welcome Mat | Pieces to Uniqueness

Welcome guests and visitors with a cheerful sunflower on a hand-painted welcome mat. Make sure you follow the tips for painting on a natural coir doormat.

9. Sunflower Pom Pom Fridge Magnets | Sum of Their Stories

Make a whole bouquet of cheerful pompom magnets for your refrigerator or bulletin board. These are easy enough that kids can make them too. And after you make some yellow sunflowers, you could use the same tutorial to make flowers in other colors too.

10. Sunflower and Apple Flower Arrangement | Home is Where the Boat is

You could just put a bouquet of fresh sunflowers in a vase and call it done. Or you could add a few extra details for a centerpiece that’s festive and ready for fall. This fall apple centerpiece is a simple but eye-catching display.

11. Sunflower Favor Box | Party With Unicorns

If you’re looking for goodies for a sunflower themed party, these printable favor boxes are a must! Just print, cut, and fold. Plus, Party With Unicorns has more sunflower party printables too.

Sunflowers are pretty easy to paint, especially if you follow this step-by-step tutorial. Use your painted mason jars to hold cutlery at a party, as a vase for faux flowers, or as luminaries with tea lights inside.

13. Sunflower Kissing Balls | Crafts By Amanda

Make a bunch of these kissing balls to hang up for a party or for decorating your front porch. Kissing balls come from the tradition of hanging mistletoe in doorways as a symbol of peace.

The bright yellow paper flowers are delightfully large. Hang them up for party decor, use several together for a photo backdrop, or string them together for garland. You could also probably scale them down a bit smaller too.

This simple Thanksgiving table centerpiece is made with silk flowers and painted dollar store pumpkins. It’s so simple to make and looks fantastic with all those pops of color.

Instead of hanging a traditional wreath on your front door, get creative with a front door basket. This one is filled with sunflowers and fall leaves.

19. Jute Sunflower Coasters | Dear Creatives

The flower-shaped coasters are a subtle way to sneak sunflowers into your home decor. Make them with jute for a rustic farmhouse look or use colored twine. You could probably make these with yarn too, but they would need to be starched.

Once you learn the sunburst pattern for making granny squares, you can use shades of yellow and brown to turn them into sunflowers.

21. Sunflower Topiary | Dream a Little Bigger

Allison created this sunflower topiary to be a Christmas tree, but I think it would look fabulous on a front porch at any time of year. And you could make a mini version to sit on a tabletop indoors.
