Sangria recipe
Sangria is technically only made in Spain or Portugal. It also usually includes brandy, which can be kind of expensive. When fresh fruits are in-season though, a few pounds of fruit and a cheap bottle of wine make for a great budget-friendly cocktail.
Actually, I usually choose box wine. It’s inexpensive, easy to open, and lasts a while. It tastes perfectly nice and makes a good base for adding more things. Like this.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup ginger ale
- 1/2 cup apple juice
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 750 milliliters, aka 3 cups red wine {I used Merlot}
- 1 apple, sliced thinly
- 1/2 cup pineapple, diced
- 1/2 cup strawberries, thin sliced
- 1/2 cup grapes, cut in half
- 2 clementine oranges, segmented
Instructions
Combine the ginger ale, juices, and wine in a large pitcher.
Wash and slice all of the fruit. Remove seeds, peel, etc. as appropriate.
Add the fruit to the liquid and refrigerate at least one hour. The longer it sits, the stronger the flavors will blend.
Serve chilled, including pieces of fruit in each glass.
Nice and simple. Just like summer should be.

Disclaimer: Sangria includes alcohol, so always drink responsibly. 🙂

I’m not much of a wine drinker but that looks like something I could probably drink a glass or three of that stuff on a summer (any) afternoon 😉 Looks wonderful!
Yeah, this is pretty tasty stuff. And you could easily make it alcohol-free {which my kids requested after smelling it}. Just leave out the wine and sub grape juice.
