I started One Mama’s Daily Drama in 2009. A lot has changed in ten years, so I decided it was time for a big update. Find out everything you want to know about the new blog!
I announced in May that I was taking two months off from creating new content to work on rebranding. I’m happy to announce that it’s time for the reveal!
Why the change?
A quick backstory:
I started this blog on Blogger in 2009, mostly as a hobby blog talking about deals and parenting hacks. Blogging was pretty new at the time, so everyone was just making it up as we went along.
In 2014 I decided to purchase my domain name and try to blog professionally. In 2017, my blog was a solid side hustle. And in 2019, it is almost enough to quit my part-time day job. Almost.
Over the years this has always been a lifestyle blog, but my lifestyle has gradually changed. I realized early this year that I needed to rebrand the blog to reflect that.
I’m still One Mama, but my kids are teens and I don’t blog about kids activities or parenting much anymore. And there’s still plenty of Daily Drama, but I feel less stressed and more like I’ve got a handle on things.
The most obvious changes are the layout and color scheme. I wanted the blog to be relaxing and fun and easy to read.
I’ve also reorganized all the old blog posts to reflect my main topics. You can still find the kids activities and recipes by searching, but since I won’t be focusing on those topics much if at all, they aren’t the focus.
Some topics – like self-care and cards & stationery – I plan to do more. Several readers have asked for home tours, so that is on my to-do list.
You’ll also notice that when you click the shop tab, instead of being redirected to Gumroad, you stay on One Mama’s Daily Drama. I love having everything in one tidy place. You can browse items, add them to your cart, and checkout without leaving this site. The sales are still handled through Gumroad so they remain 100% secure.
What is staying the same?
This rebranding feels like the final step in changes I’ve made over the past few years, so I feel like a lot is staying the same.
I’m still going to make tons of printable planner inserts. In fact, my 2020 Printable Planner is coming out next week!
All my social media handles are staying the same. Somehow I was accidentally smart and created them all with my name, @kerihouchin, in the beginning. And the url will stay onemamasdailydrama.com, but I just won’t be focusing on that name.
There are still a few hundred blog posts that need updating, which will take time.
For the rest of 2019, I plan to continue with monthly content themes. August is all about planners and September will include a little self-care before we head into the holiday season.
I’d love for you to poke around the new site and tell me what you think! Leave a comment on this post or find me on your favorite social media.
