It includes a space to write out your goal – big or small. Then there is room to write out exactly how you’re going to get there. And of course, the all-important reward for all that hard work. There is also space to include the person or people holding you accountable. Plus, at the bottom is a box for a motivational phrase that will keep you going when, inevitably, it gets hard.
I used to make a long list of resolutions every December 31st. I don’t remember keeping any of them. The thing about a resolution is that it seems like a big change that you have to make all at once. Right now.
Those are hard.
But a goal is something to work toward. It includes a step-by-step plan for getting there, which implies that it will also take a while.
My New Years goal
My goal for 2014 – in a single word – was hardworking. I wanted to work really hard and get ahead, both financially and professionally. I put in a crazy number of hours and definitely worked hard all year long. While I reached my goal, I wouldn’t say I had fun doing it most of the time.
I also realized that, although pretty burned out, I still wasn’t satisfied with the results. Something about quality vs. quantity.
For 2015, I have lots of small goals for growing One Mama’s Daily Drama, improving our craft business, getting my house organized, and being healthier. The real goal, though, is being positive. I think that hard work was necessary, but it often made me grumpy.
For 2015, my goal is to work on being positive and let that spark all the other improvements.

I made a pretty printable sheet to write out your goal. You can, of course, have more than one.
